Prevention

Southwest Counseling Service administers the Community Prevention Grant, the Community Prevention Grant provides funds for prevention specialists in the community to implement prevention strategies in each of the following focus areas: Underage Alcohol & Marijuana, Adult Overconsumption of Alcohol, Tobacco, Opioids & Other Drugs, Suicide, and ATODS. The Prevention Coalition works hand in hand with prevention specialists to implement prevention strategies and is committed to connecting efforts for safety and health as well as striving to educate and empower the community to make positive lifestyle choices regarding overall wellness.

  • Community Event Toolkits
  • Life Skills Training (Elementary Program)
  • TiPs Training
  • Tobacco Policy & Signage
  • Adult and Youth Nicotine/Tobacco Cessation Groups
  • Free Community NRT’s (Nicotine Replacement Therapy)
  • Free Medication Lock Boxes
  • Free Gun Locks & Gun Lock Boxes
  • Question Persuade Refer (QPR) Training
  • Mental Health First Aid Training
  • Crisis Intervention Team Training
  • Sources of Strength

We are always accepting new coalition members. We hold our meetings every fourth Thursday of the month at Coal Train Coffee Depot in Rock Springs, if you are interested in joining our coalition please contact the prevention team or visit our website below.
